i use itunes on osx 10.6 (latest version of both), and, failed library move, ended bunch of missing tracks. fixed them writing applescript changes "location" attribute of track objects proper one. "location" thing changed script.
here happened: when script run, of exclamation marks on selected tracks dissapeared, , few tracks played normal. however, majority of them did not--i double click or click "play" , nothing happens. if click "show track in finder" on 1 of problematic tracks, redirected proper file. file in "location" field in "get info" in itunes correct file, no errors whatsoever. can open files manually in vlc , play fine, , have no broken headers or (they shouldn't--the song files weren't touched of this). however, itunes stubbornly refuses play them: area filled in in "get info" 1 of problematic songs column starting "kind: aac audio file" (which same, mp3 format files). if add duplicate of problematic songs, "you're trying add duplicate" warning, , duplicate exhibits exact same problems. don't want remove , re-add songs itunes--that's exact scenario trying avoid writing applescript in first place.
tldr: changed location of missing "exclamation point" files in itunes script. files don't have exclamation point, still won't play.
it's shot in dark, , library first, have tried file>library>organize library? understanding take library , make sure tracks organized artist/album hierarchies.
but dave right, better place superuser.com, or perhaps ask different, unless want assistance troubleshooting script itself.
